Το γυμνό είναι αναντίρρητα το αγαπημένο θέμα του Ρενουάρ, τον απασχόλησε σε όλη τη δημιουργική του πορεία μέχρι τις τελευταίες μέρες της ζωής του και ως εκ τούτου αποτυπώνει την εξέλιξη της τέχνης του. Καθώς εισχωρούμε στο προσωπικό σύμπαν του ζωγράφου, βυθιζόμαστε σε έναν κόσμο απόλυτα αισθησιακό και αθώο, όπου η γυναικεία μορφή ακτινοβολεί χωρίς περιορισμούς.

Τη γυναίκα ως νύμφη, λουόμενη, γυναίκα-ανθό ή γυναίκα καρπό, την προτιμά εύσαρκη και γλυκιά, με πλούσιο στήθος, γεμάτη κοιλιά, φιλντισένιο δέρμα. Από το έργο του θα δημιουργηθεί μια γυναίκα αρχέτυπο, την οποία σήμερα πια χαρακτηρίζουμε χωρίς ενδοιασμούς "γυναίκα του Ρενουάρ".

The magic of Renoir was not just in his compositions but in his choice of subjects. The women he painted, the curves of their voluptuous bodies and their ages were all part of his genius. Adding to the incredible attraction to these creations, was his soft color choices. His women were full figured, women, not children, women with women’s bodies. Renoir celebrated the body of a woman in all her glory.

Aστεροειδής με έξι «ουρές»! Hubble astronomers observe bizarre six-tailed asteroid

Οι δυο φωτογραφίες λήφθηκαν από το διαστημικό τηλεσκόπιο Hubble με διαφορά 13 ημερών, στις 10 και 23 Σεπτεμβρίου. Στις δύο εικόνες αυτές οι πίδακες ύλης έχουν εντελώς διαφορετική κατεύθυνση. These NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope images reveal a never-before seen set of six comet-like tails radiating from a body in the asteroid belt and designated P/2013 P5. The asteroid was discovered as an unusually fuzzy looking object by astronomers using the Pan-STARRS survey telescope in Hawaii. The multiple tails were discovered in Hubble images taken on September 10 2013. When Hubble returned to the asteroid on 23 September its appearance had totally changed – it looked as if the entire structure had swung around. The location of each of the tails is indicated by an arrow, showing clearly how they change over time. The Sun is located to the top right of each frame. One interpretation is that the asteroid's rotation rate has increased to the point where dust is falling off the surface and escaping into space, where the pressure of sunlight sweeps it out into tails. According to this theory, the asteroid's spin has been accelerated by the gentle push of sunlight. Based on analysis of the tail structure, the object has ejected dust for at least five months. Αστρονόμοι παρατήρησαν για πρώτη ένα αστεροειδή στο ηλιακό μας σύστημα ο οποίος εμφανίζει έξι «ουρές», παρόμοιες με εκείνες που παρατηρούμε στους κομήτες. Το σώμα παρατηρήθηκε για πρώτη φορά τον περασμένο Αύγουστο από το παρατηρητήριο Pan-STARRS στη Χαβάη, στη ζώνη των αστεροειδών μεταξύ Άρη και και Δία.

Βράχος έκπληξη

Ένα διάγραμμα της δομής γύρω από τον αστεροειδή P/2013 P5, που παρατήρησε το διαστημικό τηλεσκόπιο Hubble. Μια ερμηνεία του φαινομένου είναι: ο ρυθμός περιστροφής του αστεροειδούς αυξήθηκε σε τέτοιο σημείο, ώστε να δημιουργούνται πίδακες ύλης κατά μήκος του ισημερινού του, ενώ η πίεση από το ηλιακό φως διαμορφώνει τις τεράστιες ουρές. Το αντικείμενο εξέπληξε τους επιστήμονες γιατί δεν εμφανιζόταν στο τηλεσκόπιο ως μία λευκή κουκκίδα, όπως φαίνονται συνήθως οι αστεροειδείς. Δύο εικόνες που ελήφθησαν από το διαστημικό τηλεσκόπιο Hubble τον Σεπτέμβριο ήταν ακόμη πιο αποκαλυπτικές, καθώς έδειξαν έναν αστεροειδή διαφορετικό από όσους ξέραμε μέχρι σήμερα.

Ο διαστημικός βράχος, στον οποίο δόθηκε η ονομασία P/2013 P5, έχει διάμετρο 425 μέτρα και ένα μοναδικό χαρακτηριστικό: «Εκτοξεύει» ύλη προς έξι κατευθύνσεις. Οι φωτογραφίες από το Hubble λήφθηκαν με διαφορά 13 ημερών, στις 10 και 23 Σεπτεμβρίου. Στις δύο εικόνες αυτοί οι «πίδακες» ύλης έχουν εντελώς διαφορετική κατεύθυνση.

Οι επιστήμονες πιστεύουν ότι η πίεση ακτινοβολίας ώθησε κάποια στιγμή τον P/2013 P5 να αρχίσει να περιστρέφεται εκτός ελέγχου, με αποτέλεσμα η μικρή του βαρύτητα να μην μπορεί πια να τον διατηρήσει συμπαγή. Με άλλα λόγια, οι πρωτόγνωρες για αστεροειδή «ουρές» αποτελούν ύλη του σώματος που εκτοξεύεται στο διάστημα κατά τη φρενήρη περιστροφή του.

«Στην αστρονομία, όταν βρεις το πρώτο, καταλήγεις τελικά να ανακαλύψεις πολλά περισσότερα» δηλώνει σε σχετική ανακοίνωση της NASA o Ντέιβιντ Χιούιτ, ερευνητής του Πανεπιστημίου της Καλιφόρνια στο Λος Αντζελες. «Για εμάς πρόκειται για ένα καταπληκτικό αντικείμενο και σίγουρα το πρώτο μεταξύ πολλών που θα βρεθούν στο μέλλον» προσθέτει ο Χιούιτ.
