Αποικίες και ορειβασία στον Άρη. Mars drawings by Ville Ericsson reveal a colonised red planet

Η ιδέα του Σουηδού καλλιτέχνη είναι να δημιουργηθούν στον Άρη μεγάλες πόλεις μέσα σε θόλους. Swedish concept artist Ville Ericsson has revealed his amazing drawings of a futuristic colony on Mars. He envisions a large dome-like structure (shown) being used to house a city on the surface.

Ο Σουηδός γραφίστας Βιλ Έρικσον οραματίζεται την οργανωμένη παρουσία ανθρώπων στον Άρη και αποφάσισε να φτιάξει διάφορα σχέδια και σκίτσα που να δείχνουν τις αποικίες στον Κόκκινο Πλανήτη αλλά και πτυχές της ζωής του ανθρώπου εκεί.

Scientific studies have shown that growing crops in Martian soil shouldn't be a problem. In the drawings it is suggested that, inside a large dome, vegetation could take hold to partially terraform the surface.

This drawing shows a space station orbiting the red planet, bearing some similarities to the ISS. Large cylindrical fuel tanks are at the bottom, while solar panels extend into space to gather sunlight.

A rotation section on the station, seen at the bottom here, would provide an artificial gravity environment for the crew on board. An astronaut is also seen on a spacewalk, heading into one of the modules.

Ο Έρικσον οραματίζεται ολόκληρες πόλεις στην επιφάνεια του Άρη οι οποίες βέβαια λόγω των αφιλόξενων ατμοσφαιρικών και καιρικών συνθηκών του πλανήτη βρίσκονται προστατευμένες μέσα σε θόλους.

O Άρης αποτελεί τον απόλυτο προορισμό για τους λάτρεις της ορειβασίας. Here climbers are seen making their way up Olympus Mons, the biggest volcano in the solar system. Olympus Mons is 25 miles (16km) high, three times the height of Mount Everest, and about 374 miles (624km) across, roughly the size of France.

Here an explorer is seen in a somewhat primitive spacesuit. Exactly what astronauts will wear on Mars is not yet finalised, with Nasa testing a number of prototypes that will make future excursions on the surface possible.

Nasa is already underway building the giant Space Launch System (SLS) rocket that will take humans and the equipment they need to Mars, with the goal of landing humans on the red planet in the 2030s.

Επίσης σύμφωνα με τον Έρικσον ο Άρης θα αποτελέσει πόλο έλξης για τους λάτρεις της ορειβασίας, της αναρρίχησης κλπ. Αυτό γιατί ως γνωστόν ο Κόκκινος Πλανήτης διαθέτει γιγάντια όρη και ηφαίστεια ανάμεσα στα οποία ο Όλυμπος (Olympus Mons) που έχει ύψος περίπου 25 χλμ και διάμετρο 600 χλμ!
